The Luchao Port in March ushered in the heavyweights in the shipping industry and witnessed the official delivery and commissioning of the first domestic research ship "Shen  Kuo Swath" for the DC grid electric propulsion system. Academician Zhu Yingfu, Chief Engineer of the Chinese Aircraft Carrier , Sun Feng, Vice President of China Classification Society, Chen Lianzeng, Chairman of the China Oceanographic Society, Zhang Tao, General Manager of Fenxi Heavy Industry, and other heavyweight guests from the industry all came to the scene, boarded the "Shen  Kuo Swath" for a real ship tour and participated in the follow-up Technology forum.

The 2200-ton "Shen  Kuo Swath" scientific research ship adopts a small waterplane surface double-body design, designed by the 702 Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, and SES-Tech provides the power system integration and the manufacturing of key equipment. In January 2018, the "Shen  Kuo Swath" reached the deepest Mariana Trench in the world for the first test voyage, which was a complete success. The ship's good performance was fully verified under the worst sea conditions in the world.

The DC networked electric propulsion system provided by SES-Tech for "Shen  Kuo Swath", compared with AC networked electric propulsion, saves 40% of space, reduces weight by 53%, saves fuel by about 8%, and has lower vibration and noise. The new energy power technology has better compatibility and is recognized as the latest generation electric propulsion system by the industry.

As the only three system integrators that have obtained the design approval of CCS DC networking technology, and the first DC networking core equipment manufacturer to obtain the China Classification Society (CCS) product certification and ship inspection, it has not only completed The assembly work of the power system has also completed the design and manufacturing of its key DC bus variable frequency control power distribution system, permanent magnet direct-drive propulsion motors and asynchronous generators, and has truly completed the localization of the above key equipment.

The successful delivery of "Shen  Kuo Swath" symbolizes that China's high-tech ship has its own "Chinese core" and is the latest generation of "Chinese core".
